New Delhi, Nov 10 (NationPress) Suresh Raina, the former all-rounder for India and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), emphasized that the experienced Ravindra Jadeja must be kept by the five-time champions before the IPL 2026 mini-auction.
Reports indicate that CSK is negotiating with Rajasthan Royals regarding a possible trade involving wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson joining CSK, while Ravindra Jadeja and another player would move to Rajasthan.
Raina voiced his support for retaining Jadeja, highlighting his significant contributions to the team over the years. In addition to Jadeja, he argued for the retention of Noor Ahmad, CSK icon MS Dhoni, and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad for the upcoming season.
“Noor Ahmad is a mystery spinner and should be retained. MS Dhoni must stay on as he is still active this year. Ruturaj Gaikwad should remain captain. Ravindra Jadeja is essential; he’s a top player for CSK and has performed admirably for the team over the years,” Raina stated on JioStar.
Additionally, he suggested that CSK might consider letting go of New Zealand opener Devon Conway to bring in local talent during the mini-auction. He also mentioned that Deepak Hooda could be released from the squad.
“CSK should release Devon Conway. They need a local opener and will be looking for one in the mini-auction. Vijay Shankar has had enough chances, so it’s time to part ways. Deepak Hooda should also be released as there are numerous players available who can fit the team's needs. They had their chances last season, demonstrating their potential. CSK will likely seek fresh talent,” Raina concluded.
