Jaipur, Dec 10 (NationPress) Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, emphasized that Rajasthan is more than a travel destination; it is a significant investment powerhouse brimming with opportunities in the tourism domain.
He expressed optimism that Rajasthan is set to become India’s “growth engine” in the near future.
During his address at the Pravasi Rajasthani Divas celebrations at JECC on Wednesday, Shekhawat highlighted that Rajasthan stands out as one of the few global regions that offers extensive experiential diversity paired with investment stability.
With its rich history of forts, palaces, vibrant folk arts, festivals, deserts, forests, wellness, and spirituality, Rajasthan presents itself as a globally scalable tourism economy.
“For travelers, Rajasthan offers not just a location, but an emotional journey,” he stated.
Highlighting the state's investment-friendly atmosphere, the Union Minister pointed out that its diversity, multiple income sources, and increasing global visibility position Rajasthan as one of the most robust centers for tourism investments.
He praised Rajasthan's new tourism policy as among the finest in India, providing substantial incentives and stability for investors.
Shekhawat encouraged investors to proceed with assurance, assuring them that both the Central and State governments would extend full support.
Referring to overseas Rajasthanis as vital partners in the state's progress, Shekhawat remarked, “You are not just expatriates; you are cultural ambassadors of Rajasthan.”
He emphasized that their international exposure and extensive networks can greatly enhance tourism investments.
Wherever they reside, Rajasthanis have contributed to the acknowledgment of the state’s culture, resilience, and entrepreneurial spirit, he noted.
Shekhawat acknowledged that India's tourism sector is on the brink of rapid growth, projected to more than triple in the next ten years. The Central Government aims to establish a $3 trillion tourism economy by 2047.
Domestic tourism has already reached 2.5 billion trips annually, revealing vast economic opportunities.
The Union Minister highlighted that the double-engine government is upgrading connectivity throughout Rajasthan—roads, railways, and airways—with unprecedented vigor. New tourism initiatives worth Rs 6,000 crore have been initiated, and 50 global-standard destinations are under development nationwide, with Rajasthan playing a crucial role.
Areas such as heritage, wedding, adventure, wellness, desert, and spiritual tourism will be expanded under the PPP (Public-Private Partnership) model, with the government committed to offering comprehensive support.
Shekhawat affirmed that Rajasthan would not only be recognized for its glorious past but also for its role in shaping the future of a new India.
He urged overseas Rajasthanis to actively contribute to the state’s social, cultural, and economic advancement and help forge a renewed global identity for Rajasthan.
