Rajasthan Congress Gathering: Dispute Arises Over Absence of Sachin Pilot's Image

Jaipur, Dec 16 (NationPress) A dispute broke out on Monday during the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) gathering in Jaipur over the omission of Congress National General Secretary and former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot's image from the meeting banners.
Sources revealed that the controversy ignited when certain Congress members voiced their dissatisfaction regarding Pilot's missing picture, leading to a fiery exchange.
State Congress President Govind Singh Dotasra justified the decision, referencing protocol as the rationale for the banner’s design. The issue was initially brought up by State Secretary Narpat Meghwal, followed by Vibha Mathur, who questioned the ramifications of excluding Pilot’s image.
“How can we discuss strengthening the party when a key leader's photo is missing?” they contended.
The two questioned why the banner showcased former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot's image while omitting Sachin Pilot's. In response, Dotasra reiterated that the All India Congress Committee (AICC) protocol dictates such decisions in PCC meetings. Vibha Mathur, granddaughter of former Chief Minister Shiv Charan Mathur and a noted supporter of Pilot, voiced her strong objections.
Dotasra dismissed the criticism, maintaining that the photos on posters complied with Congress regulations and urged members to concentrate on party unity. “If anyone desires to showcase leaders’ photos, they may do so at their own events,” he remarked.
The controversy originated from a banner prominently featuring images of senior Congress leaders from both central and state levels while excluding Sachin Pilot. Addressing the matter, Dotasra downplayed the incident, labeling it as an internal issue. “They articulated their concerns, and we acknowledged them,” he noted.
Vibha Mathur, who currently serves as a PCC Secretary and is regarded as a steadfast supporter of Sachin Pilot, has held multiple roles in Congress, including spokesperson for the IT Cell.
During the meeting, Dotasra announced a review of officials’ performance within the organization. Noting the absence of 23 officials from the meeting, he cautioned against inactivity. “Only those who meet their obligations will remain in the organization,” he emphasized, adding that block and division-level executives would be established shortly.
This incident further highlighted the ongoing tensions within the Rajasthan Congress, showcasing persistent power struggles.
