Jaipur, March 5 (NationPress) The Anantpura Police in Rajasthan’s Kota have successfully dismantled a honeytrap syndicate that was extorting significant amounts of money from businessmen through deceptive Facebook interactions.
An official revealed that three gang members—Chetan Janging alias Biddu (25), Altamas Khan alias Allu (20), and Mujjammil Khan (22)—were apprehended, while the mastermind of the operation remains at large.
City SP Amrita Duhan disclosed that the group utilized fraudulent Facebook profiles to entice their victims. Once entrapped in online discussions, they would arrange clandestine meetings at isolated locations, where they would subsequently kidnap and blackmail the victims.
“One such incident was reported by Prashant Vijay, a resident of Chitragupt Colony, Dadabadi. After five days of chatting on Facebook with a user named Monica Singhania, he was invited to meet at the Karneshwar Mahadev Temple in Anantpura. On his way there, four men seized him in his own vehicle, took him on a two to three-hour ordeal, and coerced him into transferring Rs 1 lakh via PhonePe,” he explained.
He further mentioned that the suspects included Sagar alias Nannu, Sajan Vaishnav, Chetan, and Iltmas Khan.
Following Prashant's report on March 3, an inquiry was initiated under the supervision of Additional SP Dilip Saini, CO Manish Sharma, and SHO Bhupendra Singh.
“Using digital evidence, such as Facebook conversations and bank account information, the police arrested Chetan Janging, Altamas Khan, and Mujjammil Khan,” he stated.
A woman named Alina from Vigyan Nagar collaborated with Sagar Agarwal to operate fake Facebook profiles under aliases like Monica Singhania and Akansha Singhania. She would engage with businessmen, earn their trust, and invite them to remote locations. Upon their arrival, Sagar alias Nannu and his associates would kidnap them, threatening them with false allegations of rape to extort money.
The gang deleted the chat histories from the victims' phones before releasing them. Alina had previously extorted Rs 45,000 from businessman Rajkumar Agarwal in Udyog Nagar using a similar scheme. Currently, she is on the run. Alina's partner, Sagar Agarwal, is living with a woman named Rahnuma.
In 2024, they falsely accused Saddam (Kaithun), Adil Mirza, and Arif Mirza (Sagod) of rape, leading to cases being filed at Mahavir Nagar and Anantpura police stations, which were eventually settled in court.
SP Duhan has encouraged any additional businessmen who may have fallen victim to this gang to step forward and report their experiences.
