Mumbai, June 30 (NationPress) Actor Rajkummar Rao is poised to captivate audiences as the fierce and relentless gangster in his upcoming film 'Maalik'. To ensure authenticity in his portrayal, he engaged in specialized gun training.
In his quest to master the use of an AK 47, Rao received instruction from ammunition specialists, learning essential techniques for handling the weapon during his rigorous training.
Discussing the training process, producer Jay Shewakramani mentioned, “It required significant time and intensive training for Raj to become proficient with the AK 47. During practice sessions, he experienced some shoulder strain, yet he persevered until every shot was completed. His dedication to his craft is truly commendable.”
Prior to this, director Pulkit highlighted Rao's physical transformation for the gangster narrative.
The 'Stree' star grew his beard for over 80 days to achieve the rugged appearance necessary for the film.
Pulkit elaborated that the team aimed for Rao to exude a sense of raw power in his character.
He stated, “We wanted Raj to embody an essence of raw strength—something authentic, gritty, and unapologetically real. Rajkummar fully committed to the journey, both physically and emotionally. He grew his beard for nearly three months to portray a character brimming with wild energy. What you see in the teaser is merely the beginning; there’s much more depth to this character, and Rajkummar has presented something truly extraordinary.”
In this highly-anticipated drama, former Miss World Manushi Chillar will star opposite Rao for the first time.
Moreover, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Medha Shankr, Huma Qureshi, Anshumaan Pushkar, and Swanand Kirkire will also play pivotal roles alongside others.
Produced by Kumar Taurani under the Tips Films banner, in collaboration with Jay Shewakramani of Northern Lights Films, 'Maalik' is scheduled for a theatrical release on July 11 this year.
