Rakesh Bedi Shares Surprising Truth About Payment for 'Saath Saath'
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, April 20 (NationPress) Renowned actor Rakesh Bedi, currently enjoying the success of the 'Dhurandhar' series, welcomed director and choreographer Farah Khan to his home in Mumbai for an episode of her YouTube channel.
During their conversation, Farah reminisced about their early careers in the film industry, highlighting how Rakesh worked without receiving any compensation for his roles.
Reflecting on those times, Farah inquired, “Rakesh, do you receive payment now? I assume you do. Back then, newcomers often weren't compensated.”
“The circumstances were quite different,” Rakesh Bedi responded.
When Farah probed whether he was remunerated for the film ‘Saath Saath’, starring Deepti Naval and Farooq Sheikh, he disclosed that this was the only film where he received absolutely nothing.
“I didn't even receive reimbursement for transportation. In fact, we often brought our meals from home,” he stated.
Directed by Raman Kumar and produced by Dilip Dhawan, ‘Saath Saath’ tells the story of Avinash Verma, a principled young man, and his wife, Geetanjali Gupta, the daughter of a textile mill owner, as they confront the challenges of marital life.
During her visit, Farah noted that although she and Rakesh go back a long way, they hadn’t seen each other in a while.
Taking a stroll down memory lane, Farah shared that she was only 15 years old when Rakesh was studying at FTII. She recounted that during those days, they enjoyed complimentary meals and drinks at Javed Akhtar's residence.
“Those from FTII would come daily to Javed uncle and Honey aunty's house for free food and drinks, and that’s how we would all gather,” Farah reminisced.
