New Delhi, March 28 (NationPress) In response to the detention of former Nepal Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli, Congress MP Sukhdeo Bhagat expressed concern on Saturday, emphasizing that political events should not be influenced by acts of retaliation.

This comment follows the arrest of K.P. Sharma Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak by Nepal’s newly-formed government due to their involvement in a culpable homicide case related to the suppression of protests by Gen Z, during which several demonstrators tragically lost their lives.

In an interview with IANS, Bhagat remarked, “These issues transcend mere political rivalry; they are rooted in ideological differences. The developments in Nepal are alarming. I firmly oppose violence and cannot condone it. Nevertheless, we hope that political dynamics are not marred by a sense of retaliation.”

Additionally, Bhagat addressed another matter concerning Congress legislators in Karnataka requesting VIP tickets for Indian Premier League (IPL) matches.

He stated, “I recognize that such arrangements have been commonplace. Even within the Jharkhand State Cricket Association, tickets are often allocated to ministers and MPs. This should not be viewed solely as a VIP culture, as sports can engage the public in ways that extend beyond politics.”

In a related development, the Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, UT Khader, instructed the state government on Thursday to guarantee that each MLA receives a minimum of four VIP tickets for IPL matches at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

This directive arose from complaints by legislators from various parties, who claimed they were receiving only one ticket and, in certain cases, were relegated to general seating areas. Some MLAs also requested the establishment of a dedicated lounge within the stadium.

In response to the situation, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar defended the request, asserting that elected officials are entitled to such amenities. He informed reporters that he would address the issue with the relevant authorities.

“The MLAs deserve this as they are part of the government. I will discuss this with the chairman to ensure our MLAs are accommodated. Let Tejasvi Surya give advice to his party members,” remarked Shivakumar.
