Thakkolam (Tamil Nadu), March 7 (NationPress) - Union Home Minister Amit Shah confronted Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin regarding the language debate stemming from the National Education Policy (NEP), advocating for the establishment of engineering and medical education in Tamil.

During the CISF Raising Day gathering in Thakkolam, HM Shah criticized the DMK administration for its insufficient actions on this matter, emphasizing that it is Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government that has implemented substantial policy reforms to encourage the use of regional languages in recruitment.

“Previously, there wasn’t an option for mother tongues in CAPF recruitment. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made it possible for our youth to take the CAPF examination in all languages recognized in the Eighth Schedule, including Tamil,” HM Shah stated.

“I call upon the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu to swiftly implement medical and engineering programs in Tamil,” he urged.

Earlier that day, CM Stalin had criticized Shah for the alleged promotion of Hindi, claiming he had “reignited a battle he can never win.”

CM Stalin condemned the Centre’s three-language policy under NEP 2020, labeling it as “Hindi colonialism” and asserting that Tamil Nadu will not accept it.

On a post shared on X, CM Stalin remarked, “It was the Union Education Minister who incited us to pen this series of letters while we were merely fulfilling our responsibilities. He overstepped and dared to intimidate an entire state into complying with #HindiImposition. Now, he faces the repercussions of starting a conflict he can never win. Tamil Nadu will not be coerced into submission.”

On Thursday, CM Stalin also cautioned that any form of imposition breeds animosity and threatens harmony. He accused BJP leaders of questioning the DMK government’s patriotism despite its efforts towards national initiatives.

“The tree may seek tranquility, but the wind will not still,” he expressed, attributing the dispute to the remarks made by the Union Education Minister.

With Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu approaching next year, CM Stalin has intensified his criticisms of the BJP in recent weeks concerning delimitation and the Hindi issue.
