Eknath Shinde Critiques Opposition During Meeting with PM Modi
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
On March 17, in New Delhi, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde engaged in discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During their meeting, he criticized the Congress and the Shiv Sena-UBT for inciting fear through false claims regarding fuel and gas shortages.
Shinde cautioned that such misleading narratives only serve to aid black marketers and hoarders.
He drew parallels between the current actions of the Opposition and their conduct during 'Operation Sindoor', asserting that their remarks are often exploited by Pakistani media to undermine India.
In a pointed statement, Shinde condemned the Opposition's tendency to politicize a war-like atmosphere, labeling it as regrettable and anti-national.
"It is profoundly disappointing that misinformation is being propagated in India, merely to generate headlines in Pakistan. For the founder of Shiv Sena, Balasaheb Thackeray, the principle was always 'Country First, Politics Later.' We uphold those values as we advance," he affirmed.
The conversation with PM Modi primarily revolved around the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict, issues surrounding domestic security, and various developmental agendas for Maharashtra.
Reiterating the Shiv Sena's steadfast commitment as an ally of the NDA, Shinde assured Modi of their unwavering support for the Central government's decisions during this international crisis.
He also briefed the Prime Minister about the successful repatriation of Maharashtra residents stranded in Kuwait, Dubai, and Muscat due to rising tensions in the Gulf.
Shinde expressed appreciation for Modi's diplomatic initiatives, highlighting that India's robust relations with Gulf countries facilitated the safe transit of two Indian oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz.
Additionally, discussions included ongoing development projects and administrative issues in Maharashtra.
Shinde praised the unopposed election of Shiv Sena Spokesperson Jyoti Waghmare to the Rajya Sabha, describing her as well-educated and deeply connected to the struggles of the underprivileged. He expressed confidence that she would effectively voice the concerns of the common people in Parliament.
Shinde also had a meeting with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla in his office, attended by Union Ministers Kiren Rijiju and Piyush Goyal.
