Mumbai, Sep 14 (NationPress) Workers from Shiv Sena(UBT), spearheaded by party spokesperson Anand Dubey, organized a demonstration on Sunday opposing the India-Pakistan match in the Asia Cup 2025. They destroyed television sets and chanted slogans condemning both the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Central Government.
The party accused the Modi administration of disrespecting the Sindoor of our sisters by allowing this contentious fixture to occur.
In Mumbai, female party members protested while holding Sindoor as a symbol of their dissent against the match.
In an interview with IANS, Dubey remarked, "We are against the India-Pakistan match scheduled in Dubai. There is no justification for this match at this time. We will demand that the Indian government reassess its decision and instruct the BCCI accordingly."
While smashing TVs, he informed reporters that Pakistan remains a state sponsor of terrorism and emphasized the necessity to sever all connections with the neighboring country.
"We are contributing funds to the BCCI so that they understand the gravity of their error; we want Jay Shah to acknowledge the mistake. We call upon PM Modi to halt this match and not play with the sentiments of women who have lost their Sindoor. How can the sisters and mothers, who've lost loved ones in Pahalgam, watch this match?" Dubey challenged.
The Shiv Sena(UBT) leader also urged Indian cricketers to boycott the match, pledging public support if they did.
"If these players choose to withdraw from the match, we will embrace them. However, if they proceed, we will also criticize them for participating in the game," he added.
Despite the substantial opposition, the India-Pakistan match is confirmed to take place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium at 6:30 p.m. UAE time (8:00 p.m. IST).
