Key Takeaways
Bengaluru, Feb 13 (NationPress) Karnataka's Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, while discussing the current leadership conflict, remarked on Friday that he has always lived on hope.
“Outcomes will undoubtedly follow everyone’s diligent efforts. Where there is dedication, there is reward. Where there is faith, there is divinity,” he articulated.
Shivakumar expressed these sentiments when questioned by reporters at the Indian Institute of Science and subsequently in Tiptur. When asked if he felt more assured after his recent visit to Delhi, he reiterated his previous statements.
In response to reports suggesting that the party's high command has summoned him and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on February 17 to deliberate on power-sharing, Shivakumar stated, “I am not aware of this. Time will reveal the outcomes.”
When queried about Home Minister G. Parameshwara’s plan to seek clarification from the high command regarding the power-sharing matter, Shivakumar replied, “I wish him well.”
On whether he had requested information regarding legislators allegedly undertaking a foreign tour, Shivakumar mentioned, “I have not sought any report on this issue. I have not attempted to gather information regarding it.”
When asked about the possibility of the high command intervening to stop the foreign study tour, he replied, “I have not discussed this with the high command. Those participating in the foreign tour have not communicated with me.”
Shivakumar stressed his dedication to party discipline, asserting, “I will adhere to whatever the party decides. I will not meddle in any other matters. If MLAs present any issues, the high command leaders and the Chief Minister will handle it. I will not interfere. It is my responsibility to remain a disciplined member of the party and the government.”
In response to inquiries about the government marking 1,000 days in office and the upcoming event in Haveri, Shivakumar announced, “We have arranged the Bhoomi Guarantee scheme program in Haveri tomorrow.”
Regarding his visit to Sage Ajjayya’s mutt, he shared, “It is Ajjayya’s annual fair. I attend every year and will do so again this year. This evening, we have organized a dinner for the conference guests and arranged for them to tour Vidhana Soudha.”
Shivakumar mentioned that he met with World Bank officials earlier in the day.
“They toured villages and examined the water supply system. They also visited the KRS dam and appreciated the safety measures in place. They indicated that if Karnataka submits proposals for water supply, stormwater drains, and other projects, they are ready to offer support. I have instructed officials to prepare proposals accordingly.
When asked about the arrest of BJP MLA Byrathi Basavaraj on Thursday night, he stated, “Please consult the Home Minister regarding this matter. I learned of his arrest through the news. Beyond that, I possess no further information.”
Meanwhile, Congress MLC and Shivakumar supporter Channaraj Hattiholi expressed, “It is our hope that Shivakumar should assume the role of CM. It is also the desire of the state’s populace and the Congress party's members.”
