Hassan (Karnataka), Oct 15 (NationPress) - Karnataka's Chief Minister Siddaramaiah made a visit to the renowned Hasanamba Temple on Wednesday, where he engaged in special prayers. This visit, occurring amidst a leadership dispute, has ignited conversations in political circles, particularly as it followed Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar’s recent visit to pray at the Hasanamba deity.
Insider sources suggest that both leaders sought blessings from the goddess to fulfill their political aspirations. According to these sources, Shivakumar is actively seeking to unseat the CM, while Siddaramaiah is determined to complete his full term.
The Hasanamba Temple is often referred to as the Vaishnodevi of the south. The so-called ‘Hasanamba miracle’ describes the mysterious occurrence at the temple where offerings of rice, water, bananas, and coconuts remain fresh and uncontaminated for an entire year during the temple's annual closure. Additionally, a ghee lamp (nandaa deepa) continues to burn brightly, and flowers remain vibrant after the 51-week closure period, coinciding with the Diwali festival.
After receiving darshan of Hasanamba Devi and Siddeshwara Swamy, the CM shared with the media: “I received darshan last year, and I have returned this year. I prayed for prosperity, peace, and the well-being of our state, for adequate rainfall, bountiful crops, and the welfare of our farmers.”
Siddaramaiah also commended district representatives and officials for prioritizing the needs of the common populace over VIP treatment during the Hasanamba festival.
He noted, “This year has seen excessive rainfall affecting farmers. In addition to NDRF funds, we are providing further compensation. We have introduced crop-loss relief measures that were previously unavailable. My prayers at Hasanamba and Siddeshwara Swamy are aimed at preventing crop loss next year.”
“Our state embodies Kuvempu’s vision of a ‘Garden of Peace for All Communities.’ Let us strengthen this vision. The deities of all religions desire a life of love and harmony among people. We must adhere to the path of humanity with compassion,” he emphasized.
When asked about potential additional funding in the state budget for the Hasanamba festival, the CM remarked, “I will consult with the district administration. If necessary, we will provide financial support and additional funds.”
District in-charge Minister Krishna Bairegowda, MLA Shivalingegowda, MP Shreyas Patel, HUDA Chairman Shivappa, and district officials attended the event.
Sources indicate that after CM Siddaramaiah's visit to Hasanamba last year, he successfully navigated through a crisis concerning the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam.
During the ongoing leadership conflict, Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar received ‘Mahaprasada’ at the Hasanamba temple during his visit and prayers.
On Tuesday night, he visited the temple with his wife to offer special prayers. The priests performed the 'Narayani Namaskara Mantra' from the 11th chapter of 'Durga Saptashati', praying for his success and well-being.
The prayers lasted about five minutes. During this time, Shivakumar recited the 'Khadgamala Stotra' seeking victory over his opponents.
As the rituals concluded, flowers fell twice from the right side of the deity, considered a divine sign for Shivakumar. Following this occurrence, his team expressed optimism about rewards for him.
After the rituals, Shivakumar told the media, “I am here; the Mother is here. I prayed for peace, prosperity, and protection for all of us.”
