Mumbai, July 7 (NationPress) Bollywood star Sidharth Malhotra is honoring the Kargil war hero Captain Vikram Batra on the anniversary of his martyrdom.
On Monday, the actor took to his Instagram to share a poignant image of Captain Batra standing against the majestic backdrop of the Himalayas.
In his heartfelt caption, he expressed, “To Captain Vikram Batra, your story continues to move and inspire us. Thank you for showing us the meaning of true strength. Remembering you today, on the day you gave everything for the nation.”
Sidharth portrayed the role of Vikram Batra in the acclaimed 2021 film ‘Shershaah’, a biographical war drama based on the life of the courageous officer. The film was directed by Vishnuvardhan in his Hindi film debut, with a screenplay by Sandeep Shrivastava, and featured Sid’s wife, Kiara Advani.
Captain Vikram Batra enrolled in the Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun in June 1996, as part of the Manekshaw Battalion, named in honor of India's legendary war hero Sam Manekshaw. He completed a rigorous 19-month training program and graduated from the IMA on December 6, 1997, earning a commission as a lieutenant in the Indian Army.
He was awarded the Param Vir Chakra, the highest military honor in India, posthumously for his extraordinary bravery during the Kargil War on July 7, 1999. He displayed remarkable valor while combating Pakistani forces around Area Ledge, Point 4875, in the Kargil district of what was then Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile, Sidharth was recently seen in the film ‘Yodha’, inspired by a series of aircraft hijackings in India's history, particularly the hijacking of Indian Airlines Flight 814 in 1999.
He also has the film ‘Param Sundari’ lined up for release on July 25, 2025, produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films.
