The Test series between India and South Africa will compete for the Freedom Trophy, created to honor the legacies of Gandhi and Mandela, and to promote their message of non-violence.
The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has commissioned a distinctive gold coin, with Gandhi on one side and Mandela on the other, representing the principles of peace, freedom, and non-violence for the toss at Eden Gardens, as reported by India Today.
CAB President Sourav Ganguly confirmed that this coin was crafted especially for this series and will be employed during the toss.
Additionally, it was reported that on the eve of the match, the CAB will conduct the Jagmohan Dalmiya Memorial Lecture on November 13, featuring a keynote address by Sunil Gavaskar, with cricketers from both teams in attendance.
