Bengaluru, Jan 19 (NationPress) The Karnataka Police has lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against the prominent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) figure and former Minister B. Sriramulu at the Ballari Women's Police Station on Monday, accusing him of disclosing the name and identity of a minor victim in violation of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The allegations assert that during his public address, he mentioned sensitive information, which constitutes a clear breach of the POCSO Act's stipulations.
According to the report, a case has been initiated against the former Minister under the provisions of the POCSO Act.
It has been reported that while speaking at a BJP protest rally on January 17, which called for the arrest of Congress MLA Nara Bharath Reddy and the transfer of the shootout case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Sriramulu inadvertently revealed the identity of the victim.
The former Minister purportedly stated that Ballari had turned into a hub for ganja and drugs, alleging that the accused had consumed narcotics prior to the sexual assault of a schoolgirl.
During his address, Sriramulu is accused of disclosing the survivor's name, address, class, and the name of her educational institution.
When approached for his reaction, BJP MLA Gali Janardhana Reddy confirmed that he was aware of the case filed against Sriramulu, adding that they would respond legally.
Sriramulu is considered a close associate of Janardhana Reddy.
Karnataka BJP MLA Janardhana Reddy, along with his wife Aruna Laxmi and Sriramulu, have launched a vigorous critique against the Congress-led state government and local Congress MLA Nara Bharath Reddy following a violent incident in Ballari that resulted in a Congress worker's death, suggesting an escalation of political tensions in the area.
These remarks were made at a protest rally aimed at demanding a CBI investigation into the Ballari incident and the swift arrest of local Congress MLA Nara Bharath Reddy.
Sriramulu noted that the protest was organized not solely for the defense of Janardhana Reddy but for the safeguarding of the Kalyana Karnataka region.
Identifying Congress MLA Bharath Reddy and police officials purportedly in collusion with him, Sriramulu declared his intent to pursue them relentlessly.
The former Karnataka Minister emphasized that, following an assassination attempt on him and Janardhana Reddy, he would not remain silent.
He further stated that the BJP would reclaim power in Karnataka when the state Assembly elections occur.
