Chennai, March 29 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and DMK leader M.K. Stalin is poised to officially kick off his party's campaign for the forthcoming Assembly elections in Tiruvarur on March 31. This event signifies a crucial moment in the state’s political landscape as it gears up for a competitive electoral contest.

The launch of the campaign follows closely on the heels of Stalin announcing the DMK’s complete roster of candidates for the anticipated elections.

The party has designated candidates for 164 constituencies, while the remaining 70 seats have been allocated to partners within the Secular Progressive Alliance.

Stalin referred to the candidate list as a meticulously selected and “refreshed” compilation, crafted after thorough discussions within the party and with alliance collaborators.

Tamil Nadu is slated to hold elections on April 23, with the counting of votes scheduled for May 4.

As the election date approaches, negotiations regarding seat-sharing within the DMK-led coalition have sparked intense dialogues and occasional tensions among alliance members. Nevertheless, the coalition has entered campaign mode, focusing on solidifying its voter base throughout the state.

According to party insiders, Stalin's statewide campaign will commence at 5 p.m. on March 31 at South Ratha Street in Tiruvarur. The selection of Tiruvarur is laden with historical significance for the DMK, being the birthplace of the party’s founding figure, M. Karunanidhi, affectionately known as “Kalaignar.” By beginning the campaign in this notable town, the DMK leadership aims to strengthen its ideological heritage and emotional bond with voters.

In an official announcement, the DMK indicated that Stalin will actively campaign throughout Tamil Nadu to bolster both party nominees and alliance partners. The campaign will emphasize the accomplishments of the DMK government, counteract opposition claims, and galvanize grassroots support in key areas.

The leadership believes that initiating the campaign from Tiruvarur will invigorate party members and establish the groundwork for a vigorous and organized outreach across the state.

A large turnout of senior leaders and party members from various districts is anticipated for the launch event.
