Mumbai, Jan 19 (NationPress) Bollywood actor Tahir Raj Bhasin has kicked off the shooting for designer-filmmaker Vikram Phadnis' latest project alongside actress Saiyami Kher. He expressed that the material grants him the opportunity to delve into a new facet of his craft while narrating a groundbreaking story.
Discussing the film, which serves as the designer-filmmaker’s inaugural directorial venture in Hindi, Tahir conveyed his enthusiasm for a role that challenges him beyond his comfort zone.
“It’s genuinely fulfilling to commence the year deeply engaged in my work, and this collaboration with Vikram Phadnis is especially significant. I am thankful to partake in a narrative that diverges from the ordinary and presents new demands on me as an actor,” Tahir remarked.
He continued: “The material enables me to investigate a different aspect of my craft while conveying a groundbreaking story, which is what I constantly seek. I eagerly anticipate sharing this journey with the audience.”
Tahir was recently featured in “Special Ops 2”, portraying a formidable antagonist. The series, which also included Kay Kay Menon and Karan Tacker, centered on RAW officer Himmat Singh’s efforts to thwart a considerable cyber threat to India’s digital framework.
Prior to that, he appeared in the successful series Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein and Sultan of Delhi, a period crime thriller directed by Milan Luthria. Set in 1962 Delhi, the series is based on writer Arnab Ray's book Sultan of Delhi: Ascension and features a talented ensemble cast including Mouni Roy, Anjum Sharma, Vinay Pathak, Anupriya Goenka, Nishant Dahiya, Mehreen Pirzada, and Harleen Sethi.
Tahir made his screen debut with Kismat Love Paisa Dilli in 2012 and had a brief role in Kai Po Che!. He then starred in the romantic comedy One by Two, directed by Devika Bhagat.
In 2014, he took on a leading role in Pradeep Sarkar's crime thriller Mardaani alongside Rani Mukerji, playing the part of Karan Rastogi, a human trafficking kingpin from Delhi. His character drew inspiration from the American TV series Breaking Bad.
Tahir showcased his talent in the action spy thriller Force 2 in 2016, playing the antagonist opposite John Abraham and Sonakshi Sinha. His performances in Mardaani and Force 2 earned him a spot on Forbes magazine’s 30 under 30 list for 2017.
He graced the red carpet at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival as part of the cast for Nandita Das’s Manto, portraying the 1940s Bollywood star Shyam. He was also seen in Chhichhore, ‘83, and Looop Lapeta.
