Chennai, June 26 (NationPress) Tamil actor Krishna Kulasekaran has been taken into custody in relation to a drug abuse and trafficking investigation that unfolded on Thursday.
Following new leads from the interrogation of other suspects, including actor Srikanth and a supposed drug dealer, Krishna was questioned the previous day.
Information from Chennai Police indicates that Krishna's involvement surfaced during the questioning of actor Srikanth, who was apprehended earlier this week by the Nungambakkam Police.
During the investigation, Srikanth reportedly indicated that Krishna frequently attended private gatherings in Chennai where drugs, especially cocaine, were present.
In addition to Krishna, authorities apprehended a suspected drug dealer named Kevin, raising the total arrests in connection with this case to four.
Also detained is Prasad, a former official of the AIADMK IT wing, who is allegedly tied to the drug operation as well as a recent pub altercation in Chennai that initially drew police attention.
This investigation, which commenced with the arrest of a man named Pradeep—who is believed to be a primary narcotics supplier—has expanded into a possible drug network involving Kollywood personalities and political aides.
Pradeep allegedly provided drugs to Prasad, leading to a series of disclosures during police questioning.
Another significant accused in the case, Prashanth, claimed that actor Srikanth paid Rs 12,000 for cocaine during the filming of Theengarai and that both Srikanth and Krishna regularly attended drug-laden parties.
Authorities confirmed that the Chennai Police executed a two-hour search at Krishna’s home in Besant Nagar before apprehending him.
Krishna, who is the younger brother of prominent filmmaker Vishnu Vardhan, had reportedly eluded earlier police summons and fled to Kerala to evade arrest. Subsequently, four special teams were established to locate him.
Upon his arrest, Krishna refuted allegations of drug use, asserting, 'I am not addicted to drugs. I suffer from heart and stomach ailments, so I cannot consume such substances.'
