Los Angeles, Jan 22 (NationPress) Pop sensation Taylor Swift is poised to make history as the youngest woman ever inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
The 36-year-old artist qualifies for this prestigious honour in 2023, marking two decades since her debut single, Tim McGraw, was released. She successfully navigated the ballot ahead of the organization’s upcoming 2026 Induction and Awards Gala in New York City on June 11, as reported by Female First UK.
Previously, Taylor was awarded the Hal David Starlight Award from the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2010, which recognizes promising songwriters. This year, she will be the first recipient of this accolade to achieve full Hall of Fame status. Alongside her, Alanis Morissette, KISS' Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons, and Kenny Loggins are also set to be honored, along with non-performing writers such as Walter Afanasieff, Terry Britten, Graham Lyle, and Christopher 'Tricky' Stewart.
According to Female First UK, Walter Afanasieff is well-known for co-writing Mariah Carey's hits including My All, Hero, and All I Want for Christmas is You. Meanwhile, Terry and Graham wrote Tina Turner's We Don't Need Another Hero and What's Love Got To Do With It.
Tricky is famous for his work on Rihanna's Umbrella and Beyoncé's hits Single Ladies and Break My Soul. The chair of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, Nile Rodgers, expressed in a statement, “The music industry is built upon the incredible talent of songwriters who create unforgettable songs. Without their artistry, there would be no recorded music, concert experiences, or engaged fans. Everything originates from the song and its creator. We take great pride in our ongoing commitment to recognizing some of the most culturally significant composers in history. This year’s lineup not only showcases iconic songs but also celebrates unity across various genres.”
Writers who unfortunately did not make it through the ballot this year include LL Cool J, Pink, David Byrne of Talking Heads, Sarah McLachlan, and The Go-Go's Charlotte Caffey, Kathy Valentine, and Jane Wiedlin.
