The fighter jet crashed while executing low flying maneuvers in front of a large audience, igniting into flames after impacting the ground near the runway of Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai.
The Tejas is a single-engine, 4.5-generation multirole combat aircraft featuring a delta wing design. It has been developed by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) and is manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for the Indian Air Force (IAF).
Powered by an engine from US engineering giant GE, the American company has also expressed its willingness to assist with the ongoing investigation into the crash.

Designed for a multitude of missions, the fighter jet excels in offensive air support, close-range combat, and ground-attack operations. Its versatility enables it to operate effectively in both land and maritime environments, establishing it as one of India's most adaptable domestically produced aircraft.
The latest iteration, the LCA Mk1A, incorporates significant upgrades to enhance combat capability and survivability. It is equipped with advanced systems such as an AESA radar, an upgraded electronic warfare suite featuring radar warning and self-protection jamming, a digital map generator, smart multifunction displays, a combined interrogator-transponder unit, and a modern radio altimeter, among numerous other high-end features that bolster its operational strength.
The Tejas family includes single-seat variants for the Air Force and Navy, alongside twin-seat trainer versions for both services.
