New Delhi, July 24 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Telangana, A. Revanth Reddy, engaged in a discussion with the Lok Sabha's Leader of Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, and the Rajya Sabha's Leader of Opposition and AICC President, Mallikarjun Kharge, on Thursday to provide insights regarding the caste survey executed in the state.
During their meeting at Kharge's residence, the Chief Minister elaborated on the modalities and implementation of the caste survey.
He detailed the strategies employed by the state government to gather data during the Socio-Economic, Education, Employment, Political and Caste (SEEEPC) survey.
Revanth Reddy informed the senior Congress leaders that, utilizing the data from the SEEEPC survey, the state has enacted two Bills aimed at increasing reservation for Backward Classes (BCs) to 42 percent in education, employment, and local governance.
These Bills have been forwarded to the Centre for inclusion in the 9th Schedule of the Constitution.
He urged Gandhi and Kharge to apply pressure on the BJP-led government at the Centre during the current Parliament session to endorse the BC reservation Bills.
Previously, the Chief Minister remarked that the struggle for total justice for OBCs has commenced and will persist until it reaches a satisfactory resolution, aligning with Gandhi's principle, "Jiski jitni hissedari, uski utni saajhedhaari".
"Despite the Centre's reluctance to conduct a caste census, Telangana proceeded with its own caste survey, presenting comprehensive findings to the State Legislative Assembly and establishing an Independent Experts Committee to evaluate the survey data. The Congress government in Telangana has resolved to implement 42 percent reservations for OBCs predicated on the caste survey in education, job opportunities, and political roles, along with a quota for BCs in the forthcoming local body elections," he stated on the social media platform 'X'.
Revanth Reddy emphasized, "The entire nation should adopt the Telangana model for social justice, which commenced with a caste survey and subsequently empowered the OBC community based on scientific findings. We will advocate for justice for OBCs from 'Sadak to Sansad' without any compromises."
