Hyderabad, Jan 15 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Telangana, A. Revanth Reddy, made an appeal on Thursday for the Indian Army to contemplate relocating the headquarters of its Southern Command from Pune to Hyderabad.
This request was articulated during the Civil-Military Liaison Conference held at the Integrated Command & Control Centre in Hyderabad.
Attending this meeting were Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao, General Officer Commanding of Telangana & Andhra Sub Area, Major General Ajay Mishra, Director General of Police Shivadhar Reddy, and other prominent officials from both the state administration and the army.
As stated by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Revanth Reddy raised multiple requests on behalf of Telangana during his discussions with senior military personnel.
The talks emphasized the prompt resolution of land disputes and various administrative hurdles between the army and the Telangana government.
The Chief Minister advocated for the consideration of relocating the Southern Command headquarters, which oversees regions including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and the Union Territories of Puducherry, Lakshadweep, D&N Haveli, and Daman & Diu, to Hyderabad.
Additionally, he proposed the establishment of a Sainik School in Telangana, highlighting that while two to four such schools have been authorized in other states over the last decade, none have been sanctioned for Telangana.
The Chief Minister assured the army officials that the Telangana government is prepared to lead in cooperative efforts concerning national security.
To demonstrate this commitment, 3,000 acres of land have been set aside for the Low-Frequency Navy Radar Station located in Vikarabad.
He urged the army to appoint dedicated officers to address issues and facilitate discussions between the army and the Telangana government, emphasizing that continuous dialogue is essential for resolution.
