How Does Op Sindoor Reflect the Legacy of the Kargil War?

Lucknow, July 26 (NationPress) On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid heartfelt tributes to the valiant soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the "unity and integrity" of the nation.

During a solemn event at Shaheed Smriti Vatika in Lucknow, the Chief Minister laid floral tributes at the martyrs' memorials and honored their families in the presence of veterans and citizens from diverse backgrounds.

He remarked that Operation Sindoor represents India's revitalized military prowess and echoes the sacrifices made during the Kargil War.

In his address, CM Yogi stated, "On Kargil Vijay Diwas, we unite as a nation to honor the bravery and sacrifice of our gallant soldiers who defended Bharat Mata."

He noted, "Today is a day of dual significance. We pay homage to the heroes of the Kargil War while also celebrating Lucknow Nagar Nigam's achievement as the third position holder in the PM Swachh Sarvekshan Awards."

Reflecting on the 1999 conflict, CM Yogi recalled, "The Kargil War was thrust upon us by Pakistan. Local shepherds had reported the infiltration to the Indian Army in May 1999."

"After the Indian Army alerted the government, and following Pakistan's refusal to heed warnings, Operation Vijay was initiated under then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. On this day, Vajpayee ji declared the success of the Kargil War, astonishing the world."

He emphasized the challenging conditions faced by Indian soldiers, stating, "Kargil was a difficult battlefield where Pakistani forces occupied higher altitudes, while our soldiers fought valiantly from lower grounds. The courage of our forces overwhelmed the cowardice of the Pakistani troops."

CM Yogi reiterated former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee's unwavering stance, saying, "Dialogue would only resume when Pakistan ceases its infiltration attempts, regardless of any third-party involvement."

He underlined the bravery of the Indian soldiers, stating, "Our troops stood firm during the Kargil War, leading to our victory. On this day, India astounded the world by overcoming Pakistan."

The Chief Minister connected the legacy of Kargil with current military strength, asserting, "The recent Operation Sindoor symbolizes India's military capabilities and revitalizes the echoes of the Kargil War."

Describing Kargil Vijay Diwas as a timeless tale of unwavering courage and determination, CM Yogi remarked, "This sacrifice exemplifies the defense of our nation's unity, integrity, and self-respect. The soldiers who protect our country are the true national heroes."

He reaffirmed the government's commitment to the families of fallen soldiers, stating, "When a soldier sacrifices his life for our borders and internal security, our government provides an additional assistance of Rs 50 lakh to the family, alongside a job for one family member in the state government. The unity and integrity of our nation often demand such sacrifices."

Concluding his address, CM Yogi stated, "If we are able to sleep peacefully, progress towards prosperity, and enjoy modern facilities, it is because the brave soldiers of India are safeguarding our borders."
