Bhagalpur, June 26 (NationPress) A dedicated camp was held in the Kahalgaon area of the city on Thursday, where over 500 tricycles, hearing aids, and various other assistive devices were distributed to individuals with disabilities.
This initiative, conducted under two significant government programs -- Assistance to Persons with Disabilities (ADIP) and the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY), attracted a large crowd of participants and recipients who received valuable resources, including tricycles, canes, hearing devices, dental aids, and more.
Many beneficiaries expressed their appreciation for the government’s initiatives aimed at improving their quality of life, extending their heartfelt thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
During the event, Bhagalpur MP Ajay Kumar Mandal emphasized that both the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister are committed to supporting persons with disabilities.
According to Ajay Mandal’s comments to IANS, this program, managed by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, benefits from the steadfast backing of both Prime Minister Modi and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar.
This marks the second occasion that a camp for the divyang community has been held in the city.
Ajay Mandal added, “In my previous term, I facilitated the distribution of tricycles to 4,000 Divyangjans. This time, around 2,000 individuals received various assistive devices, including tricycles, e-rickshaws, crutches, commodes, canes, and hearing aids.”
Organiser Arpana noted that the camp was conducted at the sub-division level and provided hundreds of divyangs with tricycles to enhance their independence and self-sufficiency.
In addition to distributing hearing aids and other support equipment, a medical team conducted health assessments for many of the attendees.
Several individuals attending the camp for the first time registered under the government program and received their benefits.
Mannu Gupta, who traveled from Kirtania Panchayat, expressed his joy at receiving a tricycle, stating, “It will be much easier for me to go to the market or anywhere else. Transporting goods will also become a lot simpler now. I am grateful to PM Modi for this.”
