Washington, June 17 (NationPress) - US President Donald Trump asserted on Tuesday that the United States is fully aware of the whereabouts of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, stating that he is an "easy target" but that the US will not "eliminate him for the time being".
"We know precisely where the so-called 'Supreme Leader' is hiding. He is an easy target, but he is secure there — We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now," Trump posted on his Truth Social account.
"However, we do not want missiles launched at civilians or American troops. Our patience is running thin," he added.
As the conflict between Iran and Israel escalated into its fifth day, Trump called for Iran's "UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER".
In another message on Truth Social, Trump noted that while Iran possesses effective sky trackers and defense systems, they are not on par with American-made technology.
"We now have complete and total control over the skies of Iran. Iran has good sky trackers and plenty of defensive equipment, but it cannot compare to American-made, conceived, and manufactured technology. Nobody does it better than the good ol' USA," Trump stated in his message.
Earlier that day, Trump departed the ongoing Group of Seven (G7) Summit in the Canadian Rockies and returned to Washington.
Trump clarified that his early exit from the summit was unrelated to the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict.
"Publicity-seeking President Emmanuel Macron of France mistakenly claimed that I left the G7 Summit in Canada to return to D.C. to negotiate a 'cease-fire' between Israel and Iran," Trump wrote on Truth Social. "Incorrect! He has no idea why I am heading back to Washington, and it certainly has nothing to do with a cease-fire. It's much bigger than that. Whether intentionally or not, Emmanuel always gets it wrong. Stay tuned!" he added.
As tensions escalated between Iran and Israel, Trump also urged people to evacuate Tehran.
The Israel-Iran conflict, which began on Friday, has now entered its fifth day. With Israel declaring its intention to dismantle Iran's nuclear program, hostilities continue as multiple missiles from Iran have been launched at Israel.
