Belem (Brazil), Nov 20 (NationPress) Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav, engaged in multiple bilateral discussions with international leaders during the 30th Conference of the Parties (CoP30) under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) taking place in Belem, Brazil.
Yadav met with Japanese Environment Minister Hirotaka Ishihara, where they deliberated on the effective execution of the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) and other vital aspects of India–Japan collaboration.
“I am pleased to report a highly constructive meeting with Hirotaka Ishihara, Minister for the Environment, Japan, at COP30 in Belem. Our conversation centered on successfully executing the Joint Credit Mechanism and other significant areas of cooperation between India and Japan,” the Union Minister shared on X.
Additionally, Yadav participated in the 11th JCM Partner Countries' Meeting, organized by the Japanese Environment Ministry, on Wednesday, alongside CoP30.
During the session, the Union Minister reiterated India’s dedication to closely collaborating with Japan and all JCM partner nations, stating, “Our partnership with Japan illustrates how trustworthy, cooperative frameworks can foster investment in appropriate technology deployment while bolstering the execution of the Paris Agreement.”
Yadav also engaged in discussions with Carsten Schneider, the German Federal Minister for Environment and Climate Action. The two leaders covered the effective implementation of the Paris Agreement principles at CoP30 and explored avenues to enhance cooperation for climate action towards a greener future.
“I had a very constructive meeting with Carsten Schneider, German Federal Minister for Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety at COP30 in Belem. We had fruitful discussions on implementing the principles of the Paris Agreement effectively during this ongoing COP30. We also explored ways to intensify cooperation in climate action for a sustainable tomorrow,” Yadav stated on X.
Moreover, he met with Lars Aagaard Moller, Denmark's Minister for Climate, Energy and Utilities, and Wopke Hoekstra, European Union Commissioner for Climate Action, to address critical agendas at CoP30 and review significant aspects of the India–EU climate partnerships.
