Brasilia, Oct 14 (NationPress) Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav, took part in the 30th Pre-Conference of Parties (Pre-CoP30) Ministerial Roundtable in Brasilia, highlighting the necessity for implementing ambitious climate initiatives.
He pointed out that addressing the immediate need for resources in developing nations for both adaptation and mitigation is critical.
“The era of ongoing evaluations without action is behind us. Our focus must shift to executing bold climate strategies and, most importantly, tackling the significant challenge: the urgent resource shortages for developing countries to achieve adaptation and mitigation. While dialogue is essential, action is vital,” Yadav posted on X on Tuesday after the discussions.
During the assembly, he further emphasized that the Global Stocktake acts as the catalyst for the Paris Agreement, driving political momentum and maintaining vigorous efforts toward heightened ambition.
The Minister proposed that the technical dialogue be confined to one year while extending the political segment to allow sufficient time for balanced decision-making.
Echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's statement, Yadav conveyed that India aims to be part of the solution rather than the problem.
He asserted that India's initiatives, including the International Solar Alliance and Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure, reflect the essence of collaborative and action-driven multilateralism.
“As we commemorate a decade since the Paris Agreement's adoption, CoP30 must deliver a strong political message that multilateralism remains fundamental to global climate action,” stated Yadav, who led India's contribution at the Pre-CoP30 Ministerial Roundtable.
The Minister praised the CoP30 Presidency for fostering an inclusive environment for open and constructive dialogue as the world approaches Belém, Brazil, where the 30th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) will take place from November 10 to 21.
In addition, Yadav also met with Simon Stiell, the Executive Secretary of the UNFCCC, on the sidelines of the Pre-COP in Brasilia.
Posting on X, Yadav remarked, "Our discussions centered around boosting multilateral cooperation to elevate global climate action. I appreciate his recognition of India’s leadership and significant strides in renewable energy."
