New Delhi, Nov 30 (NationPress) Vice Admiral Sanjay Sadhu has officially taken over as the Controller of Warship Production and Acquisition (CWP&A), as stated by an official on Sunday.
He has had extensive experience aboard the Aircraft Carrier INS Viraat in various roles, along with service on the frontline frigates INS Brahmaputra and INS Dunagiri, according to a statement from the Ministry of Defence.
Commissioned in the Indian Navy in 1987, Vice Admiral Sandhu, AVSM, NM, holds a Post-Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering and an MPhil in Defence and Strategic Studies. He commenced his new role on Friday, as reported by the Ministry of Defence.
With a career spanning over 38 years, the Flag Officer has held a wide range of significant Operational, Staff, and Yard positions.
Prior to reaching Flag Rank, he fulfilled numerous crucial roles, including Additional General Manager (Production) at Naval Dockyard (Mumbai), Commodore Superintendent of Naval Ship Repair Yard (Karwar), and Principal Director Marine Engineering at Naval Headquarters, New Delhi, the statement added.
He played a vital role in the modernization and acquisition of Aircraft Carrier Vikramaditya from Russia, serving in various capacities within the Project, including Senior Naval Engineer Overseer at Warship Overseeing Team (Severodvinsk), Russia, Director Aircraft Carrier Projects, and Principal Director Aircraft Carrier Projects at Naval Headquarters.
Upon his elevation to Flag Rank, he served as Additional Director General Warship Design Bureau (Submarine Design Group), Chief Staff Officer (Technical) of the Eastern Naval Command, Admiral Superintendent Dockyard (Visakhapatnam), and Chief Staff Officer (Technical) of the Western Naval Command.
Notably, the Flag Officer has the unique achievement of heading two major Dockyards on both the West and East Coasts while serving as Chief Staff Officer (Technical) for both Naval Commands, the statement highlighted.
