Yami Gautam: Is Being Fearless synonymous with Carelessness?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, Oct 29 (NationPress) Actress Yami Gautam, who is preparing for the launch of her new film 'Haq', believes that being fearless does not equate to being careless.
During a promotional event at a luxurious hotel in Juhu, Mumbai, she shared insights with IANS, emphasizing that one can exhibit fearlessness while still being accountable. Yami reflected on some of her notable roles where she portrayed fearless characters, who remained conscious of their responsibilities.
She elaborated, “Having participated in significant films like 'Uri', 'Article 370', and now 'Haq', I notice a common thread of fearlessness that runs through them, despite their diverse narratives. Fearlessness does not imply carelessness; it requires the courage to narrate such stories. If a film is crafted with the intent to stir controversy, the audience will perceive that too. Ultimately, we are creating a film, and it's vital that it is presented as such. For me, understanding the emotional essence of the character is paramount before I can express myself freely.”
Yami continued, “When it comes to my portrayal, there can be no uncertainty about how the audience will perceive the character's emotions. My conversations with the director on set revolved around the character's feelings. We experimented with various ways to convey these emotions on camera. Even if I cry in four separate scenes, each moment should feel distinct, with different internal experiences. My interactions with the director focus on creativity, allowing me to avoid overthinking. All the contemplation occurs before I agree to take on the role, ensuring my decision is well-informed.”
Produced by Junglee Pictures in collaboration with Insomnia Films and Baweja Studios, the film is directed by Suparn S Varma and is set to hit theaters on November 7, 2025.
