20% of IT Professionals in India Question Job Security, 29% Experience Burnout: Study

Mumbai, Nov 28 (NationPress) About 20% of employees in the IT industry are feeling unsure about their job security, while 29% are struggling with burnout, signaling increasing concerns among the workforce, according to a report released on Thursday.
The analysis from Great Place To Work showcases organizations that excel in fostering vibrant and resilient workplace cultures.
Additionally, the report underscores the rising challenge of employee burnout, which continues to impact a considerable segment of the workforce. Approximately 29% of IT workers indicate they are experiencing burnout this year.
Conversely, companies are proactively investing in enhancing flexibility, encouraging participation in decision-making, and promoting a healthier work-life balance.
These organizations are reaping positive outcomes. In addition to mitigating burnout, they are enhancing employee satisfaction, resulting in improved retention rates and stronger morale, as noted in the report.
“Although the IT sector witnessed growth fueled by digital transformation, it also encountered obstacles such as a global slowdown and increasing competition, making the adaptability and resilience of these organizations all the more commendable. What sets these successful companies apart is their steadfast commitment to maintaining trust and stability, even as the industry landscape experiences significant changes,” stated Balbir Singh, CEO of Great Place To Work, India.
“Despite the widespread engagement challenges in the sector, with burnout impacting 29% of IT employees—an increase of 3% from the previous year—these outstanding workplaces have effectively cultivated environments where employees feel heard, valued, and empowered in decision-making processes,” Singh added.
The report further reveals a 3% decline in employee engagement among Gen Z workers specifically within the IT sector, indicating increasing difficulties in connecting with younger employees who increasingly value purpose-driven work and a strong community.
This trend highlights the changing expectations of this generation, who desire workplaces that offer more than just financial compensation.
To address these evolving needs, IT firms must concentrate on building trust, transparency, and meaningful engagement to enhance retention of top Gen Z talent, the report concluded.
Among the best workplaces in the IT sector recognized for their outstanding culture and employee satisfaction are Adobe, Infosys, Accenture Solutions, Pitney Bowes India, Admiral India, and F5 Networks Innovation.
