With an initial contribution of Rs 2,000 crore from the Adani family, this initiative will focus on providing world-class education and learning infrastructure to individuals from all segments of society.
During the announcement of the Adani Foundation’s collaboration with GEMS Education, a renowned international network of award-winning K-12 schools, Gautam Adani revealed that the first school will launch in Lucknow for the academic year 2025-26.
"Proud to announce @AdaniFoundation’s partnership with @GEMSEducation, a global leader in K-12 education. Together, we will establish world-class Adani GEMS Schools of Excellence across India, making quality education affordable and accessible to everyone," Gautam Adani posted on X social media.
He further mentioned that in these schools, 30 per cent of seats in the CBSE curriculum will be allocated for underprivileged children.
“The first school will open in Lucknow in 2025-26, with plans for 20 schools within three years. Together, we will help shape the future - one student at a time," Gautam Adani added, emphasizing that "service is meditation, service is prayer, and service is God".
This commitment is part of a larger Rs 10,000 crore social donation recently unveiled by the Adani Group. Previously, the company announced Rs 6,000 crore to develop Adani Health Cities (AHCs) in collaboration with the Mayo Clinic from the US, and Rs 2,000 crore to create a skilled workforce for various industries through ITE Education Services (ITEES) of Singapore.
This collaboration is set to foster top-tier research institutions dedicated to enhancing teaching skills through innovation and capability development.
Over the next three years, at least 20 such schools in the K-12 sector will be established across metropolitan cities in India, followed by expansions into Tier II to IV cities.
Within these institutions, 30 per cent of seats in the CBSE curriculum will be reserved for deserving and underserved children.
Utilizing the Adani Group’s nationwide presence and robust infrastructure, along with GEMS' educational expertise, this partnership aims to create a scalable, affordable, and sustainable model for quality education for students throughout India.
"This initiative demonstrates our commitment to making world-class education affordable and widely available," stated Gautam Adani.
"By embracing global best practices and innovative digital learning through our partnership with GEMS Education, we aspire to prepare the next generation of change-makers to become responsible leaders in India," the billionaire industrialist added.
According to Sunny Varkey, Founder and Chairman of GEMS Education, their vision has always been to ensure that quality education is accessible to every learner, regardless of their socio-economic status.
"The partnership with the Adani Foundation will empower us to expand our reach and influence, bringing our global educational expertise to students and educators in various regions of India," he remarked.
The Adani-GEMS schools will incorporate a global curriculum, complemented by the best of Indian educational standards.
