Davos, Jan 21 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N Chandrababu Naidu, emphasized India's rise as a global economic powerhouse, projecting that the nation will contribute the highest incremental global GDP by 2027.

Speaking at a special session by the CII during the World Economic Forum, the Chief Minister remarked, "In the early 90s, when the internet was introduced, India initiated economic reforms in 1991. Since then, we have progressed to implementing second-generation reforms. Currently, Indian entrepreneurs, particularly those from Andhra Pradesh, are leaving a global imprint. We possess a first-mover advantage in technology, a demographic dividend, and exceptional entrepreneurial capabilities. We are recognized as one of the most adaptable communities worldwide."

He further stated, "By 2047, India is poised to be either the first or second-largest economy globally, with Indians spearheading wealth creation and contributing to the global community. Recent evaluations also indicate that by 2027, India will lead in incremental contributions to global GDP."

N Chandrasekaran, Executive Chairman of Tata Sons, elaborated on the Swarna Andhra Pradesh initiative, stating, "This plan for 2047 aims to develop Andhra Pradesh through the Government's 4P model – public, private, people, partnerships. The strategy will encompass several components, focusing on specific sectors to stimulate economic growth and job creation."

During the session, the CII Centre for Global Leadership on Competitiveness (GLC) was unveiled, with a brochure introduced by the Chief Minister.

CII Director General Chandrajit Banerjee emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, "Moving forward, we are fortunate to partner with the State Government in establishing the Global Leadership Centre (GLC) in Amaravati. This groundbreaking initiative aims to cultivate value-based leadership, enhance corporate governance, and develop global leadership skills."

The CII Centre for Global Leadership on Competitiveness, which will be entirely industry-led and managed, aims to bolster the competitiveness of industries at both the national level and in Andhra Pradesh.

The session also featured an Exchange of Letter of Intent between the CII and the IMD Business School, Switzerland – marking the first agreement with an international institution for the Centre for Global Leadership on Competitiveness.

The discussions transitioned to a session on ‘Pathway to India’s Green Industrialisation: From Green Hydrogen to Green Manufacturing’, organized by CII in collaboration with Ernst & Young. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu reiterated the state's commitment to becoming a leading hub for green energy and green hydrogen, emphasizing the focus on sustainable energy and green manufacturing.

Rajiv Memani, President-designate of CII and Chairman and CEO of EY India, highlighted the necessity of green energy for India's growth objectives. He noted, "If India is to realize its growth goals by 2047 and boost per capita income by 5 or 6 times, total energy consumption must rise to 370 billion gigajoules. Currently, India imports 40 percent of its energy. For India, green energy is not merely essential; it is a key enabler of our growth ambitions."

The sessions also featured remarks from Sajjan Jindal, Chairman of JSW Group, David Bach, President of IMD Business School, Switzerland, G B S Raju, Business Chairman – Airports at GMR Group, Anil Kumar Chalamalasetty, Chief Executive and Managing Director of Greenko Group, and Hans-Olav Raen, Chief Executive Officer of Yara Clean Ammonia.
