Bhubaneswar, Oct 12 (NationPress) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) convened on Sunday to deliberate on candidate selection and strategizing for the impending bye-election in the Nuapada Assembly constituency of Odisha. This crucial core committee meeting took place at the party's state headquarters, according to party insiders.

Among those present were Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, State BJP President Manmohan Samal, National General Secretary Sunil Bansal, and other senior leaders.

In a press briefing, senior BJP leader Basanta Kumar Panda stated, "Our discussions were aimed at securing a victory in the bypolls. The BJP plans to approach the election with a well-structured strategy to achieve a significant win."

He noted that recommendations for the candidate's name would be forwarded to Delhi, with the final decision resting with the party's Parliamentary Board.

Panda emphasized that all party members will respect the decisions made by the Parliamentary Board.

Suresh Pujari, the State Revenue Minister, underscored the significance of the Nuapada bypoll, asserting, "This election is critical for us. The BJP is committed to winning this seat and reclaiming it from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD)."

He remarked that various aspects, including the electoral strategy for the Nuapada bypolls, were discussed during the core committee meeting.

In a notable development, Jay Dholakia, the son of the late Rajendra Dholakia, a former MLA from BJD, joined the BJP on Saturday. This move is seen as a significant blow to the BJD ahead of the by-election, which was necessitated by Rajendra Dholakia's demise on September 8.

The Congress has already declared veteran tribal leader Balabhadra Majhi as its candidate for the Nuapada bye-election, which is set for November 11.

Both the ruling BJP and the main opposition BJD have yet to announce their candidates for the upcoming bypoll.
