New Delhi, Oct 23 (NationPress) Capitalizing on the remarkable success of its newly launched iPhone 17 series and the festive season surge, Apple Inc has achieved its highest quarterly shipments ever to India, delivering 4.9 million smartphones during the July–September quarter of 2025 (Q3 CY25).

As per the research firm Omdia, this achievement signifies a 47% year-on-year (YoY) growth, marking Apple’s strongest performance in the Indian marketplace to date.

Additionally, India constituted 9% of Apple's total global iPhone shipments this quarter — the highest share recorded for the country — highlighting India's increasing significance in Apple’s global strategy.

The launch of the iPhone 17 series on September 9 was pivotal in propelling these record sales.

This new lineup showcases significant camera enhancements, featuring a 48MP Fusion Main camera and a 48MP Fusion Ultra-Wide lens, paired with a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display equipped with ProMotion technology.

Moreover, the devices are powered by the new A19 chip for superior performance and Ceramic Shield 2 technology, which provides three times better scratch resistance and minimized glare.

Apple is anticipated to experience its highest festive quarter in India this year, with analysts predicting a 28% sales increase compared to last year, driven by the initial popularity of the iPhone 17 series.

This achievement follows another significant milestone for the Cupertino-based firm: record iPhone exports from India.

During the April–September period of the current financial year, Apple exported iPhones valued at around $10 billion (over Rs 88,500 crore), reflecting a 75% growth compared to the same period last year, according to industry estimates.

This success is a testament to the strong push from the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative and production-linked incentive (PLI) schemes, which have prompted Apple to expand its manufacturing presence in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

A significant portion of the iPhones manufactured in India this year — nearly 78% — were exported to the US, a rise from 53% a year earlier.

Point of View

I view this significant milestone as a clear indication of India's rising status in the global tech landscape. Apple's record shipments reflect the effective implementation of government policies like 'Make in India', which are fostering a conducive environment for tech giants. This is not just a win for Apple, but also a step forward for the Indian economy.
