New Delhi, March 8 (NationPress) Union Minister for Railways, Electronics, and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, on Saturday, officially inaugurated the groundwork for four manufacturing facilities within the electronics manufacturing cluster in Telangana.
In Divitipally, located in the Mahabubnagar district, the foundation stone was laid for the forthcoming Giga Factory-1 by the Amara Raja company. Furthermore, a ground-breaking ceremony took place for critical minerals refining and battery recycling by Lohum, while Scell Energy initiated their cell casing manufacturing. Additionally, Altmin laid the foundation for its inaugural LFP-CAM Giga Factory.
“Electric mobility is a priority for the government, and we are dedicated to creating the appropriate infrastructure and ecosystem to enhance the promotion and adoption of EVs. We encourage Indian innovation and manufacturing initiatives and are optimistic about the success of this venture,” stated Vaishnaw.
As part of its mission to fortify the electronics manufacturing ecosystem in India and boost EV manufacturing alongside its supply chain, MeitY has announced the Modified Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC 2.0) Scheme. Under this scheme, approval was granted last year for the establishment of an electronics manufacturing cluster project spanning 377.65 acres at Divtipally village.
Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies is set to develop its Giga factory over 262 acres, featuring a 16 GW Cell Manufacturing unit and a 5 GW battery pack plant, with an anticipated investment of Rs 9,500 crore over 5 years.
Once operational, the Amara Raja Giga Corridor is anticipated to generate direct employment for 4,500 individuals and an equal number of indirect jobs within the state, significantly contributing to the socio-economic growth of the region.
The event witnessed the presence of State Minister for Information Technology and Industry D. Sridhar Babu.
The electronics manufacturing cluster is fully allocated, with 307.47 acres of land assigned to four firms -- AMARA Raja, Altmin, Lohum Material, and Scell Energy -- representing a total projected investment of Rs. 10,574 crore and the commitment to create employment for 19,164 individuals.
