New Delhi, Nov 28 (NationPress) The total count of broadband subscribers rose from 995.63 million at the end of September to 999.81 million at the end of October, reflecting a monthly growth rate of 0.42 percent, as per official statistics released on Friday.
The private access service providers commanded 92.08 percent of the market share for wireless (mobile) subscribers.
During October, 15.05 million subscribers requested Mobile Number Portability (MNP). The total number of active wireless (mobile) subscribers (on the date of peak VLR) in October was 1,094.28 million, according to the Ministry of Communications.
The wireline subscriber count saw an increase from 46.61 million at the end of September to 46.75 million at the end of October. This marked a net growth of 0.14 million with a monthly growth rate of 0.30 percent.
India's overall wireline tele-density slightly improved from 3.287 percent at the end of September to 3.294 percent at the end of October.
As of October 31, the urban and rural wireline tele-density stood at 8.16 percent and 0.55 percent, respectively. The distribution of urban and rural subscribers in total wireline subscribers was 89.36 percent and 10.64 percent, respectively, by the end of October.
Public sector access service providers, including BSNL, MTNL, and APSFL, collectively held 20.22 percent of the wireline market share as of October 31, according to the data.
The number of wireless subscribers (Mobile + Fixed Wireless Access) increased from 1,182.32 million at the end of September to 1,184.62 million at the end of October, achieving a monthly growth rate of 0.19 percent.
Total wireless subscriptions in urban regions rose from 647.47 million on September 30 to 647.82 million on October 31. Similarly, rural subscriptions increased from 534.85 million to 536.80 million during the same timeframe.
