New Delhi, Sep 27 (NationPress) Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has officially unveiled the Bharat Telecom Stack, also known as the intelligent 'Swadesh 4G Network', marking a significant milestone by providing high-speed internet connectivity to over 26,700 villages for the very first time. This advanced network solution, created entirely in India, is the result of a collaboration with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), and Tejas Networks Limited.
The launch positions India as the fifth country globally to develop a self-sufficient, indigenous telecom technology stack that supports 4G and beyond.
According to TCS, “As part of this mission-driven program, we led the project by establishing data centers, implementing C-DOT’s EPC Core Application, and deploying Tejas’s Base Stations and Radio infrastructure across over 100,000 sites, utilizing the TCS Cognitive Network Operations (TCS CNOPSTM) for continuous real-time network management.”
With this initiative, more than 2.2 crore citizens will gain access to affordable 4G data. Rural communities will benefit from services such as digital education, enhanced farming techniques, and around-the-clock telemedicine.
“We celebrate a monumental achievement for national pride today. The comprehensive rollout of our indigenous 4G network, developed through collaboration with TCS, Tejas Networks, and C-DOT, is a significant step towards an Atmanirbhar Bharat,” remarked A. Robert J. Ravi, CMD of BSNL.
This project is inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a digitally empowered and self-sufficient India.
N. Ganapathy Subramaniam, Advisor-Telecom Strategic Initiatives at TCS and Chairman of Tejas Networks, stated, “We are proud to have positioned India among a select few nations capable of developing a comprehensive, reliable, and software-upgradable telecom technology stack. The successful implementation at BSNL is a historic moment that brings the advantages of a robust data and voice network to every part of the country.”
This initiative demonstrates TCS’s unwavering commitment to enhancing India’s digital infrastructure and consistently supporting the nation’s digital ambitions, Subramaniam added.
