New Delhi, May 3 (NationPress) The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) expressed its support for the government's decisive and bold action to impose a ban on the direct or indirect import and transit of all goods from Pakistan, effective immediately.

As per a notification from the Commerce Ministry, "All direct or indirect imports or transit of goods originating from or exported from Pakistan, regardless of their import status, are prohibited immediately until further notice."

Praveen Khandelwal, Secretary General of CAIT and BJP MP, noted that this decision conveys a strong and clear message that trade cannot proceed amid ongoing hostility and anti-India actions from across the border.

Khandelwal emphasized that this decision aligns with national security priorities and echoes the sentiments of the trading community and Indian citizens, who have long sought stringent measures against economic ties with nations that support or harbor terrorism.

By ceasing all trade and transit of Pakistani goods, the government reiterates its unwavering commitment to uphold national sovereignty and security.

The official notification reiterates that this restriction is enacted in the interest of national security and public policy, stating that "any exceptions to this prohibition must receive prior authorization from the Government of India."

CAIT National President B.C. Bhartia has called on traders nationwide to fully embrace and adhere to this policy, ensuring no goods from Pakistan infiltrate Indian markets through direct or indirect means.

CAIT reaffirmed its commitment to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the government in safeguarding India’s national interests and advancing self-sufficiency through Aatmanirbhar Bharat. The organization represents the interests of small and medium-sized businesses, traders, and entrepreneurs across India.

Furthermore, it has urged Indian manufacturers and entrepreneurs to take advantage of this opportunity to enhance domestic production and replace goods previously imported from Pakistan, thereby fostering indigenous industry and creating new employment opportunities and growth.

Point of View

It's crucial to recognize the balance between national interests and economic partnerships. While this strict measure against imports from Pakistan reflects a strong stance on national security, it also poses challenges for trade dynamics. Our commitment must remain with the nation, supporting policies that protect both sovereignty and economic growth.
