Chaibasa, Nov 7 (NationPress) In a significant achievement for security forces in Jharkhand, a decisive victory was marked during their ongoing anti-Naxal operations following a violent confrontation with Maoist insurgents in the thick Saranda forest of West Singhbhum district.
The collaborative team comprising Jharkhand Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) engaged in an extended gunfight with the Maoists starting from Thursday night and continuing into Friday morning in the Kulapu Buru area, which falls under the Jaraikela police station.
Post the exchange of fire, the security forces initiated an extensive search operation throughout the nearby forest. During this operation, a substantial cache of arms, ammunition, explosives, and Maoist literature was unearthed, suggesting that the insurgents were potentially gearing up for a major offensive.
According to police reports, the volume of recovered materials was so extensive that the area needed to be temporarily sealed off for thorough examination. The confiscated items included two Self-Loading Rifles (SLRs), one .303 rifle, and 37 live rounds of AK-48 ammunition. Additionally, 78 rounds for SLRs and 130 rounds for .303 rifles were recovered.
The forces also seized 16.68 kilograms of gelatin, which is utilized in explosive manufacturing, 13 ready-to-use gelatin-based Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), 15 detonators, and five radio sets. Other recovered items encompassed two interceptors, two laptops, 11 FM radios, 24 syringes, and a variety of other Maoist equipment and materials.
Law enforcement officials speculate that the magnitude of the recovery and the characteristics of the seized items imply that the Maoists were either preparing for an extensive assault or plotting to target security personnel in the region. In response, the joint forces have escalated their search and area dominance operations throughout the forest and neighboring villages.
Authorities have confirmed that there were no injuries or fatalities among the security forces during this encounter. All potential escape routes utilized by the insurgents have been identified and sealed.
The collaborative anti-Naxal operations conducted by Jharkhand Police and CRPF are set to persist, with the security establishment aiming to entirely eliminate Naxal presence from the state by March 2026.
