New Delhi, June 25 (NationPress) The Centre has recently given the green light for the establishment of a Rs 417 crore Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC 2.0) in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, aimed at enhancing local manufacturing and fostering innovation.
This state-of-the-art EMC 2.0 initiative will be spearheaded by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA). Spanning across 200 acres, the cluster is projected to attract investments totaling Rs 2,500 crore.
The initiative underwent scrutiny by Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw alongside Minister of State Jitin Prasada. The IT Ministry emphasized that the state government's involvement is crucial for the project's success.
“This project is poised to create world-class infrastructure and generate 15,000 jobs. It aligns perfectly with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of bolstering manufacturing in India and reflects the government's commitment to job creation and establishing a Viksit Bharat,” stated Vaishnaw.
Officials have been directed to collaborate closely with the state for expedited project execution.
The cluster is set to support manufacturing in vital sectors including consumer electronics, automotive and industrial electronics, medical devices, computer hardware, and communication equipment.
Startups and MSMEs will benefit from access to top-notch plug-and-play infrastructure and shared facilities comprising standard factory sheds, electricity, water supply, sewage treatment, hostels, skill development centres, and health facilities. This will significantly lower infrastructure and logistics expenses.
The cluster's advantageous location enhances its appeal, as it boasts excellent connectivity via road, rail, and air. Strategically situated along the Yamuna Expressway, Eastern Peripheral Expressway, and the upcoming Palwal–Khurja Expressway, it is also in close proximity to major transport hubs like the railway station and Jewar International Airport. Furthermore, the EMC is surrounded by critical industrial zones, such as the Medical Device Park, MSME and Apparel Park, and the Aviation Hub.
To date, approximately Rs 30,000 crore has been invested in projects under the EMC scheme, which has attracted 520 companies and resulted in the creation of over 86,000 jobs.
