Employability among Indian Graduates Increases by 7% This Year: Recent Report

New Delhi, Dec 10 (NationPress) The employability rate for Indian graduates has experienced a significant boost of 7% this year, climbing to 54.81% for 2025, a rise from 51.25% in the previous year, as indicated by a report released on Tuesday.

The employability statistics in the ‘Wheebox India Skills Report (ISR) 2025’ were compiled using data sourced from the global employability test (GET), which evaluates final-year students across the nation during 2024 to gauge their preparedness for the job market in the 2025 employment cycle.

With 65% of the Indian workforce being under 35 years old, this vibrant talent pool is well-positioned to satisfy the needs of industries in the Gulf Nations, Southeast Asia, Europe, and Africa, as per the Wheebox report, which was developed in partnership with CII, Taggd, AICTE, and AIU (Association of Indian Universities).

“This decade is poised to see India emerge as a leader in global talent mobility. Comprehensive and internationally certified skill programs that include language training will be crucial in providing early employment opportunities,” stated Nirmal Singh, Chief Convenor of the India Skills Report and CEO of Wheebox, an ETS Company.

The report highlights a positive trend in hiring intentions, with firms in technology, manufacturing, healthcare, and e-commerce preparing to recruit new talent.

This year’s consistent rise in employability reflects the effectiveness of initiatives from both central and state governments, as well as organizations like AICTE, UGC, AIU, and reforms such as the ‘Skill India Mission’ and NEP 2020. These initiatives focus on vocational training and education aligned with industry needs.

With 50% of secondary and tertiary students anticipated to receive vocational training by 2025, India is paving the way for a workforce that can compete globally, according to the report.

“This growth in employability is more than just a number — it demonstrates India’s capacity to adapt, innovate, and succeed in a connected world. Governments must launch a large-scale, internationally recognized, and certified skilling and employment initiative for global outreach,” Singh remarked.
