New Delhi, Oct 12 (NationPress) In a significant move to address the AI skills gap in India, EY and Microsoft on Sunday introduced the AI Skills Passport, a complimentary online initiative aimed at equipping young Indians with the necessary tools and knowledge to excel in an AI-driven economy.
This program, targeted at individuals aged 16 and older, promotes fair access to top-tier AI education, enabling early-career professionals and students to acquire vital, job-ready AI skills.
The launch in India comes after a successful global rollout earlier this year, which has already attracted over 40,000 participants and seen more than 13,000 complete the program.
According to NASSCOM, only 31 percent of Indian professionals feel adequately prepared to utilize AI tools. EY and Microsoft aspire to empower the youth to enhance their skills and be prepared for the increasingly digital world.
Monesh Dange, Partner and Leader, Alliances and Ecosystems, EY India, stated, “In an age where AI is transforming work and reshaping career trajectories, the launch of the AI Skills Passport addresses India’s escalating need for proficient AI talent.”
“Numerous professionals remain unprepared to exploit AI’s full potential. Collaborating with Microsoft, we’re dedicated to making this program not only free but also impactful on a large scale, ensuring everyone can acquire essential AI skills,” Dange added.
The AI Skills Passport is an entirely online program featuring approximately 10 hours of content, available in both English and Hindi to guarantee broad accessibility.
The course combines modular video lessons, practical exercises, and asynchronous assessments, allowing learners to proceed at their own speed.
It encompasses the fundamentals of AI, responsible AI practices, and AI applications across sectors such as healthcare, finance, and technology. Real-world case studies, hands-on exercises, and career guidance—including résumé development, interview preparation, and networking strategies—are integrated to assist learners in applying their skills and improving employability.
Upon successful completion, participants receive a verifiable digital badge to enhance their job profiles and career opportunities in the AI-driven economy.
Bhaskar Basu, Enterprise Partnerships Leader, Microsoft India & South Asia, remarked, “AI is revolutionizing India’s digital economy, with the youth at its center. The AI Skills Passport, launched in collaboration with EY, embodies our vision of ‘AI for all’ and our commitment to nurturing future-ready talent.”
