Government Initiates Establishment of 20 New Industrial Townships Nationwide: Piyush Goyal

New Delhi, Dec 5 (NationPress) Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal stated on Thursday that the government is in the process of establishing 20 new industrial townships across the nation, with one already operational in Noida.
"A lot is happening, and with the active participation of industry, we can achieve much more and much faster. As a country, we need a change in mindset to recognize high quality and sustainability as our calling card as we engage with the world," Goyal remarked at the Bhart@100 Summit organized by the business chamber Assocham.
He further mentioned that the government is open to exploring alternative financing models for MSMEs and integrating entrepreneurship into the curriculum of all engineering colleges and higher education institutions as a forward-thinking approach.
Recalling the 'Panch Pran' advocated by PM Narendra Modi, the minister emphasized: "To become a developed country by 2047, it must be a collective decision of all 1.4 billion people. We need to abandon the colonial mindset we have inherited. It's crucial to take pride in our history and traditions, from which there is much to learn. The government has ensured that there is no discrimination based on caste, religion, or creed in all social welfare programs and reforms to promote unity, and each of us must recognize our responsibilities to contribute to making India a truly great nation."
Discussing the issue of greenhouse gases and sustainability, Minister Goyal expressed: "My perspective on this matter is that it's related to consumption; yet we are directing blame at the manufacturers. Developed nations that outsource production are criticizing pollution from coal-based power plants. What they fail to acknowledge is that they became developed on the foundation of low-cost energy provided by coal for over a century during their industrialization. They continue to produce ten times more pollution per capita than developing or less developed countries, yet they neither provide the finance nor the technology needed to help the rest of the world adopt sustainable practices, while expecting others to take responsibility for the challenges they face."
In his address, Assocham President Sanjay Nayar stated: "The government has made substantial investments in social, physical, and digital infrastructure, but to reach Bharat@100, the private sector must take on a larger role. Trade diplomacy through FTAs, investment corridors, and collaboration with friendly nations significantly impacts the MSME sector, which is the backbone of the economy."
