New Delhi, Oct 23 (NationPress) The government-supported e-commerce initiative Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) has officially appointed Rohit Lohia as its Chief Business Officer (CBO) on Thursday.

As stated by the company, Lohia possesses extensive experience in consulting, entrepreneurship, and senior roles within fintech, payments, and business operations.

Previously, he held the position of Senior Vice President at Paytm (One97 Communications Limited), where he played a critical role in steering business strategy, technology, product development, and risk management.

He has also co-founded several startups in the fintech and e-commerce sectors and has worked with the Boston Consulting Group (BCG).

Vibhor Jain, Acting CEO and COO of ONDC, stated that Lohia's expertise will significantly contribute to the company's value creation efforts.

“We are excited to have Rohit join the ONDC team. He brings invaluable experience in scaling modern digital businesses. Along with his profound knowledge of the e-commerce sector, Rohit’s skills will drive the ecosystem towards new opportunities and sustainable value creation through the Open Network model,” Jain expressed.

Founded in December 2021, ONDC is a project initiated by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. Its goal is to create a framework that transforms digital commerce, significantly enhancing the reach of retail e-commerce in India.

This past April, T Koshy, the founding Managing Director and CEO of ONDC, resigned from his position.

In under three years, ONDC has experienced remarkable growth, exceeding 200 million transactions and making significant progress towards its mission of democratizing e-commerce in India.
