Growth of Female Workforce in India's Tech Sector Projected at 5.5% Annually Over Next Three Years: Study

New Delhi, Dec 17 (NationPress) The overall annual growth in the women's workforce in the tech sector is anticipated to be 5.5 percent over the next three years, according to a report.
The report by TeamLease Digital indicates that the Women's Workforce Participation Rate (WPR) in the tech industry in India is expected to rise from 10.8 percent in 2022 to an estimated 14.9 percent by 2027.
Companies are actively seeking to recruit women to spearhead innovation and offer unique perspectives in high-demand tech roles. With an increasing number of women entering the workforce in India, they now represent 1.92 million of the total tech workforce.
The proportion of women in tech roles is projected to elevate to 35 percent by 2027 within Global Capability Centers (GCCs), emphasizing the critical roles and challenges faced.
Efforts are essential to close the gender gap and ensure equal opportunities for women in tech. For women aiming to establish themselves in the technology sector, the financial year 2024-25 offers notable opportunities across various emerging and vital domains, as stated in the report.
According to the report, the top tech positions where women are highly sought after include data scientists and analytics professionals.
These experts specialize in analyzing extensive datasets to identify patterns, trends, and insights that can foster innovation and efficiency. Positions like data scientist, data analyst, and ML engineer are among the most coveted roles for women in tech.
The cybersecurity field also provides women with opportunities to safeguard digital assets and protect sensitive information. Popular roles include security analyst, security engineer, and ethical hacker.
Furthermore, cloud computing is another area where women are in high demand. The need for cloud professionals is projected to reach 2 million by 2025, fueled by the increasing necessity for businesses to transition to the cloud, according to the report. As cloud adoption accelerates, roles such as cloud architect, cloud engineer, and DevOps engineer are becoming increasingly sought after.
Additionally, as AI and ML transform various industries, from healthcare to finance, women are entering roles as AI research scientists, ML engineers, and NLP specialists, working on the development of intelligent systems and process automation.
Women are also thriving as UX/UI designers, creating user-friendly and visually appealing digital interfaces. These positions require both creativity and technical expertise in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, and Adobe XD.
