Bengaluru, April 7 (NationPress) The healthcare sector in India is rapidly becoming a key employer, with a remarkable 62% growth in hiring on a year-over-year basis, resulting in the creation of over 7.5 million jobs, as outlined in a report released on Monday.

The findings from the jobs platform foundit (previously known as Monster APAC & ME) indicated that there has been a 7% increase in hiring in the past three months alone, highlighting the sector's swift expansion and shifting workforce dynamics.

This growth is significantly driven by technological advancements and an increasing demand for healthcare services. In particular, there’s a rising need for AI/ML engineers, data analysts, and product managers, showcasing the sector's ongoing digital transformation.

“India’s healthcare sector is entering a new era, where technology and talent are spearheading transformative change,” stated V Suresh, CEO of foundit.

“Our latest data reveals a notable surge in demand for positions in AI, digital health, and informatics, indicating a sector-wide shift towards innovation and patient-centric care. What is particularly noteworthy is the dual momentum: robust job creation alongside a deepening commitment to gender diversity and inclusion. As we celebrate World Health Day, this evolution transcends mere headlines—it's a compelling narrative of how healthcare is crafting significant, future-ready careers,” Suresh further commented.

Moreover, beyond the major metropolitan areas, cities like Pune, Kochi, and Kolkata are also experiencing notable growth in healthcare hiring, with Pune at the forefront, exhibiting a 10% month-on-month growth rate.

Interestingly, the healthcare sector maintains a high female workforce representation at 38%, yet leadership roles remain predominantly occupied by men, with women holding only 4% of these positions.

To combat this imbalance, healthcare organizations should launch targeted leadership development initiatives and diversity hiring practices with specific goals to enhance female representation at senior levels. Such measures can dismantle barriers and foster gender equity in both leadership and specialized medical fields, as noted in the report.
