New Delhi, Sep 21 (NationPress) The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) applauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s emphatic call this Sunday to amplify domestic production and promote the consumption of Indian-made goods, revitalizing the Swadeshi initiative fueled by the tax reductions under GST 2.0.

The Prime Minister’s speech represents a pivotal moment for India’s development trajectory. The tax cuts on essential and everyday items introduced in the GST 2.0 reforms are expected to enhance households' disposable income and boost domestic consumption, as noted in a statement by the CII.

These changes, effective from Monday, are anticipated to significantly elevate domestic manufacturing and increase demand for locally produced products, reinvigorating the Swadeshi movement.

By prioritizing manufacturing and endorsing Swadeshi, Indian industries are set to become more self-sufficient and globally competitive, propelling India towards Aatmanirbhar and a developed Bharat, the statement elaborated.

“On behalf of CII, I extend my congratulations to the Prime Minister and the government for launching the GST 2.0 reforms during the GST Bachat Utsav,” said CII President Rajiv Memani.

In his address, PM Modi called upon both industry and consumers to contribute to building a Swadeshi economy. He expressed that just as the mantra of Swadeshi empowered India’s independence movement, it can similarly energize the nation’s march toward prosperity. He pointed out that many foreign products have seamlessly integrated into daily life, often without citizens realizing whether they are using indigenous or foreign items.

The PM stressed the importance of freeing ourselves from such dependencies, urging individuals to purchase products that are Made in India, showcasing the dedication and effort of the nation’s youth.

He urged that every household should embody the spirit of Swadeshi and that every shop should feature indigenous items. PM Modi encouraged citizens to vocalize their commitment to Swadeshi with statements like “I buy Swadeshi” and “I sell Swadeshi,” asserting that this mindset ought to become second nature for every Indian.

He stated that such a cultural shift will expedite India’s advancement. Furthermore, he called on all state governments to vigorously support the Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Swadeshi campaigns by enhancing manufacturing in their respective areas, creating a favorable environment for investment. The Prime Minister affirmed that when the central and state governments collaborate, the aspiration of a self-sufficient India can be realized, leading to the development of every state and the transformation of India into a developed nation.
