Bilateral trade between India and Slovenia has demonstrated a steady upward trend over the past several years, showcasing the growing depth and resilience of this partnership.
During the 10th session of the India–Slovenia Joint Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation (JCTEC), officials from both governments evaluated the current status of their economic relations, enhanced cooperation across key sectors, and outlined a proactive roadmap for trade and investment.
This session was co-chaired by Saket Kumar, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and Peter Japelj, Director General for Economic, Cultural and Scientific Diplomacy, within Slovenia's Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.
Japelj met with Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal to discuss measures for bolstering bilateral cooperation.
According to a statement from the Commerce Ministry, Slovenia's strategic position at the heart of Central Europe, combined with India's expanding ties with Europe, offers a unique opportunity to strengthen connections between these regions. This alignment of geographical interests lays a solid foundation for enhancing collaboration in trade, technology, innovation, and connectivity.
The dialogues encompassed a thorough assessment of the global and domestic economic contexts, in addition to a review of the bilateral trade and investment relations.
Sectoral collaboration was examined in areas such as agriculture, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, health, transport, energy, tourism, MSMEs, and traditional systems of medicine, including Ayurveda, along with various trade and business-related concerns.
The 10th JCTEC reaffirmed India's dedication to fostering a vibrant economic partnership with Slovenia, grounded in mutual trust, shared values, and lasting friendship, thus paving the way for deeper collaboration across both Europe and India.
