India's Employment Landscape Anticipated to Expand by 9% by 2025: Insights

Bengaluru, Dec 19 (NationPress) India is projected to experience a 9% growth in employment by 2025, as revealed in a report published on Thursday. The study by foundit (previously known as Monster APAC & ME) highlights that the IT, retail, telecommunications, and Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) sectors are significant contributors to this growth trajectory in the nation.

With an expected 10% growth in 2024 and a 3% month-on-month increase in November, the outlook suggests that hiring will continue to thrive in a predictable environment.

Innovative technologies and shifting business priorities are anticipated to further redefine India’s employment landscape in 2025. Developments such as edge computing, quantum applications, and advancements in cybersecurity are set to revolutionize sectors like Manufacturing, Healthcare, and IT, according to the report.

In addition, the growth of retail media networks and AI-driven workforce analytics will alter talent requirements in e-commerce, human resources (HR), and digital services. Companies will seek professionals proficient in digital marketing, advertising management, and HR analytics.

“As we approach 2025, India’s job sector appears ready to expand its scope, with an anticipated 9% growth in hiring. Organizations are not only on the lookout for experienced professionals but are also extending their search beyond traditional hubs. This strategy is expected to foster a healthier, more diverse ecosystem, enabling businesses to tap into new talent pools and cultivate a workforce aligned with future demands,” stated Anupama Bhimrajka, Vice President - Marketing, foundit.

The IT sector is projected to lead with a 15% growth in hiring for 2025, spurred by the growth of Global Capability Centers (GCCs) and the adoption of multi-cloud solutions. Companies are focusing on operational agility and sustainability by implementing energy-efficient data centers, green IT practices, and utilizing refurbished hardware.

The retail sector is expected to achieve a 12% growth in employment, driven by the demand for both traditional and technology-driven roles. This growth is fueled by the revival of experiential brick-and-mortar stores and increasing consumer expenditure in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.

The telecommunications sector forecasts an 11% growth, propelled by advancements in AI, 5G, and IoT, alongside the rising demand for skills in edge computing, software-defined networking (SDN), network function virtualization (NFV), and cybersecurity.

In 2025, sectors expected to grow include finance and accounts (+8%), HR and administration (+7%), IT (+6%), hospitality (+5%), and marketing and communications (+3%).

Bengaluru is anticipated to lead city-wise growth at 10%, followed by Coimbatore (9%), Hyderabad (8%), and Chennai (6%), according to the report.
