New Delhi, Oct 26 (NationPress) Exports of passenger vehicles from India have seen an impressive 18 percent increase year-on-year (YoY) during the April–September timeframe of the current financial year, as reported by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).
This growth has been fueled by robust global demand, particularly from regions such as the Middle East and Latin America.
In the initial half of FY2025, the total number of passenger vehicles exported reached 4,45,884 units, a rise from 3,76,679 units during the same period last year.
Passenger car exports saw a growth of 12 percent, totaling 2,29,281 units, while shipments of utility vehicles experienced a remarkable 26 percent surge, amounting to 2,11,373 units. Exports of vans also rose significantly by 36.5 percent, reaching 5,230 units.
Maruti Suzuki India led the export charge, with 2,05,763 units shipped from April to September, reflecting a 40 percent increase from the 1,47,063 units in the same timeframe last year.
Hyundai Motor India followed closely, exporting 99,540 units, which is a 17 percent increase from 84,900 units the previous year.
Nissan Motor India exported 37,605 units, up from 33,059 units last year. Other significant exporters included Volkswagen India (28,011 units), Toyota Kirloskar Motor (18,880 units), Kia India (13,666 units), and Honda Cars India (13,243 units).
According to SIAM, this growth is indicative of consistent demand from international markets and a diversification of export destinations.
Indian automotive manufacturers have reported positive growth across 24 countries during the April–September period, despite a decline in shipments to the US due to increased tariffs in September.
“The data illustrates a distinct trend of market diversification, with Indian exporters achieving positive growth in 24 nations during the first half of the current fiscal year, even as shipments to the US faced challenges from high tariffs,” the report highlighted.
Countries exhibiting strong demand for Indian vehicles include South Korea, the UAE, Germany, Togo, Egypt, Vietnam, Iraq, Mexico, Russia, Kenya, Nigeria, Canada, Poland, Sri Lanka, Oman, Thailand, Bangladesh, Brazil, Belgium, Italy, and Tanzania.
